Tunku Mahmood Fawzy, aged 66, holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Business Studies from the Polytechnic of Central London, a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Warwick, and a Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. He is a chartered management accountant and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA). Additionally, he is a member of the Institute of Public Accountants (MIPA) and a Life Member of the Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance.
Currently, he serves as the chairman of EdgePoint Malaysia Holdings Sdn Bhd and is an independent non-executive director of AIA General Bhd, Hong Leong Asset Management Bhd, and HSBC Bank Malaysia Bhd.
Previously, he was the chairman of Deutsche Bank (Malaysia) Bhd and AirAsia X Bhd, served on the board of Hong Leong Assurance Berhad, and chaired Hong Leong MSIG Takaful Berhad. His earlier roles include chairman of the Financial Services Professional Board and Senior Independent Director of Telekom Malaysia Berhad. He has significant board experience with memberships at Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, Hong Leong Islamic Bank Berhad, Pos Malaysia Berhad, SapuraKencana Petroleum Berhad/Kencana Petroleum Berhad, Ethos Capital One Sdn Berhad, and international firms such as Energy Africa Limited and Engen Limited in South Africa.
Tunku Mahmood previously served as executive director (Investments) at Khazanah Nasional Berhad and was the chief executive officer/managing director of Engen Petroleum Limited in South Africa. He briefly held the position of CEO at MMM Bhd and served as an executive director at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). His career includes various senior, middle, and junior executive positions at Tajo Bhd and Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd, including a cross-posting to Shell New Zealand Limited.
He possesses extensive experience in strategy, governance, risk management, and cross-border operations across sectors such as banking and financial services, telecommunications, investment management, private equity, oil and gas, marine and aviation logistics, and corporate advisory in multiple international locations, including the United Kingdom, New Zealand, South Africa, and Malaysia.
Outside of his professional pursuits, he enjoys scuba diving, film photography, and printing with an enlarger, and has a keen interest in genealogy. Tunku Mahmood is married, has children, and one grandson, and holds the title of Tunku Kecil Muda.
He has been honored with the Darjah Setia Tuanku Muhriz and the Darjah Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang.
